CPB and Yoshida Sensha

I really like Burger King's "Wake up with the King" campaign, though it seems to creep a lot of people out. Today I realized why I like it. Crispin Porter + Bogusky have imbued the TV ads with what I can only describe as a Japanese four-panel comic sensibility (best represented by the great Yoshida Sensha). Common ingredients: awkward/strange situation, oblivious character with unchanging expression causing situation, silent comic reaction. (Yoshida's comics even feature a recurring king character, though it's a playing card king not a burger king.)
